Annie

I have just been through the most grueling pain of my life. This one was shorter-lived, but much more painful. The other side was botched with scar tissue from a past surgery, so they had take a ‘back door’, to get the tumor. I was told “it was very risky surgery”. I received a lot of support, and prayers from many here, who helped me through this ordeal. My wife was with me all the way with her love and kindness.
But this is about another, who supported me My Dog, Annie. The night before the surgery she slept with me. She had her head on my side all night long. I know she knew something was up, and that I may not make it. In the morning, she was there licking me and greeting me. I took her outside to pee, and she was happy with her sticks and ball. As we got ready to go, she wanted to come with us, Usually, she doesn’t care. She wouldn’t leave the garage so we could go. I had to coax her out. Finally, I got her in the house. She whined at me. I told her “I’ll be back!”.
I left her there looking at me. She gave me one last bark, and went to lie down. What a great friend she is. It was difficult when I got back because she was so glad to see me. I was so hobbled I couldn’t play with her. She backed off enough to let me sit in “our” chair alone. She loves to get up there with me and cuddle. That’s my Annie, and she is a huge part of my life now. She has been there for me, and will be there to help me through any storm, or bad time.
Thank you Annie. I love you.

Joe - you have no idea how scared I was as I started reading this post; I thought - oh no now something happened to Joe's dog. The tears were forming in my eyes as I read and the breath was stilled.

Man - was I relieved to reach the end and see she was still with you. I am such a dog lover; and we have a black greman shepherd that looks alot like your Annie; most people think she is a lab.

Have a great day - June

Annie is beautiful Joe!
I did not know you were having surgery, so I am sorry you had to go through that.
Dogs are very smart, aren't they!
I have read many stories like yours over the years...and I have seen my dogs react to me when I was sick or sad.
They just can feel it somehow!
Thanks for sharing this with us about your Annie, it gave me a warm feeling in my heart!
happy Monday coffee tp 19

I am glad to hear that you are home, and thank you for sharing the photo of Annie. What breed of dog is she?

Dogs are very special. There's a very good reason dogs and humans have been pals since before recorded history. I sometimes think we take too much credit for domesticating dogs, and have a hunch its they who have domesticated us. Or, at least, taught us a little something about affection, caring and loyalty.

It'll get better as the day goes. She's very sympathetic.

Awww...Annie is adorable. Dogs show love like no other animal in my opinion. It's always nice to know that they love unconditionally and that they'll be there for you when you need them

Annie is beautiful!! You can tell she's a very loving member of your family. Yes, that's what she is. It's amazing how they can "sense" when something isn't quite right.

I'm thankful your surgery went well & you recovering quickly. You've had many praying for you!

Victoria, Annie got that look of sadness
when I went down. She wouldn't leave me alone.
I was guarded closely, she's a real pal.

HAWK,
We guys are such a lecherous lot!
I shared a bed with a dog that
wore a silver dress once...a silver dress!
My God what was I thinking?

Oh HAWK!
A friend of mine and I had been drinking since we got off of work.
Somewhere along the way, we picked up this girl in the silver dress.
Her name was Belva (that should tell you something). She was with LeRoy, not me! We closed up Gulfport at 5:00 am. Somehow, and I still maintain to this day, it was LeRoy's fault, she ended up at my apartment! Luckily, Diane had been there and gone. We were engaged at the time (1970). The sex, if any, was not memorable. I woke up the next day, and there she was! Holy shit, it was Saturday, and Diane and I had plans! I hustled her out of my apartment, and into a cab, silver dress and all.
To this day, Diane is still suspicious, but like the kennedy assassination, it will go with me to my grave.
Joe
BTW, you didn't hear this!

Rubble,
Aging is a mystical farce. I used to thin: "God, what will
I do when I'm 50? Fifty came and went, no big deal. 60 came
and went, ah, what the heck. Now, I'm starting the back side
of 60. You can't do anything about it. It's all just a matter of perspective. I know one thing; life is great, and I love it.
Take it as it comes. I've noticed that this journalizing thing
is a great therapy, and good for the soul.
"Don't worry, be happy!"

Joe I am so glad to hear things went well. Animals are such great companions. They are extra sensitive to our needs and they understand exactly what is going on. She knew and she showed you her concern and her unconditional love. I sometimes wish humans would. Animals have no hidden agendas, no mind games, no dishonesty. They simply feel and love and are extrememly loyal to us. She is a real beauty and I am glad you have her in your life.

Bear Hugs!

Bella,
So far, so good here.
Annie's laying on the computer room floor,
waiting for her breakfast. I'll have to get
up and feed my little girl.
Her head is on the floor, but her eyes are
on me, so I'd better make her happy.
See ya'
